France Final Hazards Report
France's biggest hazards that we should be worried about is the global warming and heat waves of France. This impacts farmers, ecosystems, land, animals, and most importantly our Earth. These changes are being caused by humans ourselves. With the most recent and biggest drought in France, this past summer of 2022 impacted France like no other. With heavy wildfires and low rainfall, this is only the start of global warming. Many scientists are starting to see that the future could be heavily impacted by the greenhouse gas emissions and pollution which is the main cause towards heatwaves and hotter summers. I am addressing this as the number one priority because this is an issue that is not only impacting the country of France but globally. The warming of our Earth is being caused by us ourselves; the consequences of our actions are the result of wildfires and droughts. These droughts are the ones drying up lakes and rivers like River Loire in France. The drying of these lakes are causing the downfall of ecosystems. Not only are these rivers drying but the ecosystem and living species who have homes in these rivers are dying. Fish are being dried up on river beds exposing the worst drought France has had in decades.
Some recommendations I would have to mitigate climate change would be to be wiser towards Earth. In the country of France, although controversial if people were to use cars there would be more reliable and cheaper electric cars. Society pushes many to go green and buy electric cars but the truth is many families are not able to afford electric cars, so making them more affordable towards the working person would help the selling of them to try and eradicate the pollution regular cars cause. The usage of these cars would be available to only those who are in need of cars, other wise I believe using bikes or walking places would be more convenient.
Mitigating drought and climate change is tough due to us humans being the number one cause of climate change. Although, most of the wildfires and heatwaves mostly appear in the South of France, helping the crops and farmers the most with heatwaves would be the number one thing to try and target. The south of France would be my first worry when it comes to helping ecosystems and animals as well as crops; while they due with heavier uprising of temperatures. Another big and dangerous hazard happening throughout the French coastlines is the uprising of sea levels also caused by climate change. These rising sea levels could potentially use beautiful landmarks, cities, towns, and wildlife. A way I would try and mitigate rising sea levels would be to apply flood barriers around places, stores, and homes. These flood barriers would work better throughout the outsides of the coast where the sea would hit. My target for help first would be the coastlines of France for the uprising of the sea levels. This helps assure everywhere in France gets help with two of their biggest problems.
Building a house somewhere in France will not help me escape every natural disaster from happening to me but I can prevent it by living in Paris. Although a big city, this city is home to the most beautiful and historical monuments which attract people from all over the world. Living in this city although attracts rainfall, it Is not bound to attract the heat. With very little to no earthquakes, any earthquake bound to happen would be low magnitude. Mass wasting would also not be likely to hit any part of this city as no mountains are nearby. With La Seine being a huge river to stretch along the middle of France, it divides the monuments and has beautiful scenery. I believe living here and building a house on the outskirts of Paris would allow me to have the best of not being so isolated but also being apart and living next to a huge city which would allow me to explore anything anytime.
Researching France throughout the entirety of my semester allowed me to expand my knowledge on the real climate hazards France has. This country is not just beautiful beaches and Eiffel towers but like us living in the United States, they too are experiencing serious climate issues like droughts. This is cause of the drying up of rivers and leaving beautiful wildlife to die. These issues are being caused by only one source which is us humans. If everyone in this world decided to help change something small about their everyday use of lets say driving; it would help pollution. Also, stopping the production of certain goods would close factories down to try and save that extra pollution. Allowing ourselves to educate others upon the bad climate change and global warming is doing to our Earth; the Earth would be in a better place in the future. It is up to our generation to do and change something for our future.
