Week 8: Landslides and mass wasting hazards in France Mass wasting and landslides in France have threatened hundreds of people and lives who live near the European Alp Mountains making it one of the tallest bordering France, Italy, Switzerland, etc. Landslides in France have mostly been by the Alp Mountains when there is snow or heavy rain. The most although surprisingly have been recorded during the summer and spring; was a total of 2966. The most deadliest landslide from the Alp Mountains was in 1982 where Barcelonnette in the southern of France had faced a landslide of 6 million of earths materials which had threatened 170 community housings. This was also called La Valette and known as the worst in France. The country has established many engineering solutions which could potentially prevent the mudslides as well.
